Dear University Park Mom:
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. For us, the holidays are having even more meaning and are truly a blast as we enjoy them through the eyes of a two year-old. We thought at two, Sam wouldn’t care much about Santa or presents. But, when she came down the stairs Christmas morning and said “Santa brought me a kitchen” with eyes as big as saucers, we realized how quickly our “baby” is growing up. We quickly vouched to try harder to participate in her joy of seeing and learning new things. We often say it isn’t the first time they do something that you truly miss, but the last time they do something.
As always, your feedback, input and guidance on how you would like the club to work is WANTED…a note or call is fine. If you would like to become actively involved in the direction of UPMC, we are looking for 2009 BOARD Nominations/Volunteers. PLEASE CONSIDER GETTING MORE INVOLVED. It has been a great experience for me. The talent and goodhearted people within our neighborhood and the broader club members are truly amazing.
My wish for you in 2009: may your kids sleep and eat well and, therefore, you sleep well; may your “training” of choice/necessity be easy and quick (potty, using a cup, solid food, going to preschool, etc); may you enjoy alone time with your significant other; and may all that you do as a mom get easier, take less time, and bring you great joy! Cheers to a healthy and happy 2009!
Regards,
Jennifer
President, University Park Mothers Club

Pregnant? Please let us know your due date by emailing Jennifer at info@uparkmoms.org or adding your due date to our Yahoo Group Calendar. We can all use an extra hand with a new baby around…and these hands will only do what is asked of them!

Our second annual event was held on Saturday, November 15th, 2008. The event was a huge success! We had more than 50 amazing vendors and a huge shopper turnout, raising over $3,000 for University Park Elementary. This money will be used to buy a new play structure for the school’s playground as well as to support its technology program. We would like to thank everyone who exhibited, donated door prizes, participated in goodie bags and came to shop! If you are interested in participating in our 2009 event, please check back in the Spring for more information. You can still find 2008 vendor information on the vendor list page on our website.
Around UPark
- There have been several burglaries around DU. Visit the UPCC Safety page for an update and tips on keeping your home safe.
- If you had heard about Pasquini’s looking at the BOVA furniture location, I hate to disappoint you all (I am really bummed), but they have pulled their request.
- Pei Wei is coming to the new retail spot along Buchtel Blvd. and Colorado Blvd. Signs are going up and equipment is being moved in.
- Prairie Park (Land along Buchtel Boulevard Trail) Update:. The "good" grass is inside the orange fences for protection. Outside the fences there will be grading, revegetation, berms, and some crusher fine pathways. The black plastic fencing is to keep the dirt from blowing and the fox den area is being handled very carefully.
